A team of childhood friends got together to raise funds for Liverpool Sunflowers in memory of Liz Turner’s Mum, Mary Crosby.
The group of Paul Cooney, Matt & Zoe Turner, Sharon, Paul Dale and Paul’s sister Claire, Victoria McKenna, Lucy Brady, Andi Newnes, Laura & Ste Flannery, lan Williams & Neil Wakefield took on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks challenge to commemorate her memory.
Mary was a qualified counsellor, spending many years managing a “pay what you can afford” counselling charity in Liverpool, that helped a lot families and individuals, including some of those impacted by the Hillsborough Tragedy. She understood the importance of having somewhere to turn to when you may be feeling scared and confused. They felt that raising money for Sunflowers was a fitting way to honour her memory and support lots more individuals and their families.
The team completed the challenge with almost 70’000 steps each, almost 27 miles and the challenge took 13 hours raising almost £8000! We can’t thank the team enough and thought it fitting to sponsor one of our counselling rooms in Mary’s name.
