Counselling Placements

We operate an extremely busy counselling service, every week offering around 60 appointments. Our counselling team is made up of fully qualified counsellors and also students completing their clinical practice.

If you are looking for a vibrant and supportive environment in which to complete your counselling training, you should contact emma@liverpoolsunflowers.com for an application pack.

We give preference to students looking for a single placement of 100 hours or more.

We do provide training around suicide prevention, mindfulness, cancer and other subjects during the year. We also operate a group supervision meeting for our counselling team once every six weeks.

Since 2020 we have supported the completion of clinical training by more than 50 counsellors, many of whom have gone on to rewarding careers in counselling.

Here’s what some of our previous trainees have to say:

“I can’t thank Sunflowers enough, I thoroughly enjoyed all the time I spent there on my placement, it was great to have such a diverse range of clients. I also felt completely supported, both by the staff, and by other members of the volunteer team. I was able to grow in my practice, and I also learned so much from everybody there.”

“Completing my placement at Sunflowers has given me so much confidence to move forward in my career as a counsellor. I have met and worked with a broad range of clients, all of them coming with different issues. I feel prepared for the future and the team at Sunflowers has had a lot to do with that.”

“I was worried about fitting in my placement around my work and university commitments but i am so glad i found Sunflowers as the team there were totally supportive, and helped me to get my placement done, but also to enjoy it enormously.”
